Can you say Vitameatavegamin...

Today is Lucille Ball’s 100th birthday. I have been watching I Love Lucy practically all day. It never fails to make me laugh. It’s amazing, I grew up watching TVLand every night during the summer. My parents would let me stay up late during the summers and my sister, Elizabeth and I would watch shows that my parents grew up watching and loved. My mom’s favorite was Petticoat Junction. I haven’t seen this in years but I can still hum the theme song without hesitation. I also loved I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Gunsmoke, Hogan’s Heroes, and quite a few others. My dad’s favorite show was Greenacres. I can sing this theme song as well (as can most true Americans). TVLand used to have these marathons that would start on Friday nights and then end on Sunday nights. These marathons were a common occurrence in the Rigby household. Libs  (Elizabeth) and I would watch religious as Adam12 would take down each and every criminal in their paths. A few years ago I gave Libs the first season of Adam12. We watched a few episodes and realized that we could recite most of the lines. WOWZERS…we should have played outside more often. I also realize now that those shows kept me from watching things that some of my friends watched that as kids we should not have been watching. What has happened to the entertainment these days that small kids are watching inappropriate scenes and cussing on TV. I’m all about free speech and raising your kids the way you think you are comfortable with but geez guys, kids these days are watching some pretty terrible things. That’s off topic, back to TVLand, where my love of old shows and my old soul were able to thrive in the early 90s. The point of this blog is that Americans have gained many great  additions to television and media but who are we kidding, we can't beat the entertainment from the 50's to the 70's.
still here lovin classic TV shows, CR
(sorry this was a bit off topic and scatter brained...it's my life)
